Privacy and analytics.
Site analytics are off by default. You can browse jobs, use the maps and follow RSS feeds without accepting optional visit analytics.
About this notice and contact
This notice describes information handled by the website PublicEurope.eu. Use the contact details to ask about data handling or exercise a right. PublicEurope.eu is independent of the recruiting institutions whose vacancies it lists.
You do not need an account to use job search or RSS. The website does not receive applications submitted on an employer’s website or decide whether you are suitable for a role.
Site tracking
Administrators can turn the website’s own analytics on or off. The default is off. While off, the website does not accept new recording of visitor sessions, bot requests, page and application-link counts, search activity or phrases, or RSS requests and reader-reported counts. Requests already accepted for processing before the switch changed may finish.
Turning tracking off does not erase existing records or stop their retention periods. Deletion controls and retention cleanup remain available. When tracking is on, detailed visit sessions and search-phrase counts still require your consent. External analytics providers remain inactive even when the website’s own tracking is on.
Change your choice
When site tracking is on, optional visit analytics start only after you explicitly accept. Accept and decline have the same prominence. You can reopen these controls using the Privacy link at the bottom of public pages, including when tracking is off.
Declining stops new optional visit records and asks the server to delete the session linked to your current session cookie. “Stop and delete my current session” does the same. If deletion cannot be confirmed, the controls show a retry message; optional collection still stops.
This deletes the current session, not older sessions whose cookies have already expired. Older records expire under the retention periods below. Deleting a session does not remove anonymous totals, which contain no IP addresses or session identifiers.
Email contact and earlier messages
See the contact details to contact the website by email. If you send an email, your mail app and the sending and receiving mail providers handle its content and delivery information. Your email can include your address, name and the information you choose to send. Messages are used to handle your enquiry or rights request and reply where needed.
New contact submissions are no longer saved in the website inbox. Email is handled separately from that inbox; the former inbox’s automatic retention period does not describe an email provider’s storage.
Messages previously submitted through the website, if any, remain private and are kept for up to 120 days from receipt, with earlier deletion available. Closing an old message does not restart its retention period. This storage period does not extend an applicable legal response deadline.
Earlier spam-protection counters used daily keyed codes derived from an IP address and reply email address. Raw IP addresses were not stored in those counters. These pseudonymous counters expire after 48 hours; new contact submissions no longer create them.
Please send only the information needed for your enquiry. Do not send CVs, passports, health information, passwords or another person’s private application records.
Basic daily totals
When site tracking is on, Public Europe keeps daily totals for public page views, search activity, clicks on application links and RSS actions, such as opening the feed controls, opening a feed or successfully copying its URL. These help us understand which parts of the site are useful. Totals are grouped by page category and, where relevant, country; they are retained indefinitely.
These totals do not contain visitor identifiers, IP addresses, individual visit histories, search terms or referrers. Administrators can see the reports. Your browser’s Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal also disables these client analytics requests.
Optional visit analytics
When site tracking is on and you accept, administrators can see the pages and application-link clicks within a short visit session, together with the full IP address, browser and device information, language, time zone, screen and viewport sizes, and approximate location when available.
We record public page paths and permitted country, city, region and employer filters. Search phrases are kept separately from sessions as described below; they are never included in recorded session paths. We exclude access tokens, email addresses, map coordinates and other sensitive query values from these paths. Referrers are limited to their website origin; the referring page and its query are not recorded.
There are no analytics fields for your name, email address, age, password or precise location. We do not match visits to your identity or use device fingerprinting. No external tracking scripts are loaded. Administrator, sign-in, API and alert-token pages are excluded.
Optional search-phrase counts
When site tracking is on and you accept the current analytics notice, we count filtered search phrases to understand which jobs people seek and which searches need better results. These phrase counts are kept for up to 30 days and are visible only to administrators. They are not joined to session identifiers, IP addresses, device details or individual visit histories.
We exclude obvious email addresses, web addresses, phone numbers and similar sensitive patterns before recording a phrase. Automated filtering cannot recognise every personal name or sensitive phrase. Please avoid entering private information into job searches. Numeric search and category totals, without the phrase itself, remain indefinitely.
Sessions, storage and retention
A first-party session cookie links events only while site tracking is on and after you accept. It expires after 30 minutes of inactivity. The cookie is accessible to the server, not page scripts, and is sent only to analytics endpoints.
Your browser remembers your accept or decline choice for 180 days. This preference contains the choice and its expiry, not a visitor identifier. Browsing does not extend that expiry. If your browser cannot store the preference, your choice applies to the current page.
Detailed sessions collected under the current choice are retained for up to 30 days from collection. Expired detailed records are removed during site activity. Anonymous totals by date and permitted public page path remain indefinitely; these counts contain no IP address, session identifier, device details, referrer or individual event history. Basic daily totals are also kept indefinitely.
Earlier analytics choices do not enable the new search-phrase reporting. We ask for a new choice before collecting optional analytics under this notice. Existing detailed records retain the retention period that applied when they were collected; earlier seven-day records keep that shorter limit.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control block optional visit analytics even if you previously accepted. You can still use the controls to stop and delete your current session.
Automated requests
When site tracking is on, suspected automated requests may appear in the website’s operational diagnostics. Turning tracking off stops new bot records, subject to requests already accepted for processing. Classification uses self-reported browser identifiers (User-Agent) or hosting signals. A self-reported bot name is not a verified identity; host-verified signals are distinguished where supplied. Existing bot records, including the IP address, public page path, response status, browser identifier and available network or approximate location information, remain under the existing policy: no automatic expiry and access only for administrators.
These diagnostics are separate from optional human visit sessions. They do not create analytics cookies, match identities or use device fingerprinting. Requests carrying Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals are excluded from these records too.
Website delivery, maps and providers
Hosting, content-delivery and security providers process connection information to deliver pages and protect the service. This can include IP addresses, request times, requested resources and technical error information. Authorised administration also uses an authentication provider. Provider operational records are separate from the website’s analytics and contact records. Turning site tracking off does not stop the connection processing needed to deliver or secure the website, or control providers’ own operational records.
When you open a map, your browser requests map tiles from OpenStreetMap. The tile service receives connection information and the tile coordinates of the area being displayed. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy. Country, locality and list-based search are available without opening a map.
Service providers may operate infrastructure in more than one country. Their processing locations, retention and any international-transfer safeguards depend on the relevant service arrangements. You can request information through the contact details. This notice does not promise that every request is processed only within the EU.
Purposes and legal bases
Optional visit analytics and search-phrase counts rely on your consent. You can withdraw it at any time using the controls above, without changing the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. Consent to analytics is not required to contact the website.
Handling ordinary enquiries, operating the website, maintaining the vacancy index and proportionate abuse prevention serve the legitimate interests of providing a useful and reliable vacancy-search service. Requests to exercise statutory data rights are handled to meet applicable legal obligations. Whether a particular measurement or storage operation requires consent also depends on the applicable rules.
Vacancy information comes from the employer or recruitment publisher linked on the listing. It can include professional contact details published as part of the original notice. Those details are used to present the vacancy and application instructions, not to make hiring decisions or build personal profiles.
Your data rights
Where applicable, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your personal data, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Some rights depend on the purpose and legal basis of the processing. Withdrawing analytics consent is available directly through the privacy controls.
Use the contact details for a request. Provide enough information to locate the relevant record, such as a contact-message reference, without sending identity documents. Additional information may be requested only where needed to verify and handle the request. A current analytics session can be deleted through the controls above.
Under the GDPR, requests generally require a response within one calendar month. A permitted extension for a complex request must be explained within that first month. You may also complain to a competent data-protection supervisory authority, including one in the EU country where you live or work. See the European Data Protection Board’s authority directory.
The website does not make automated decisions about your employment or eligibility that have legal or similarly significant effects.
Original vacancies and RSS
Application links open the recruiting institution’s website, which has its own privacy practices. Public Europe records an application-link click only when site tracking is on and under the choices described above; it does not see what you enter on the institution’s site.
RSS feeds require no Public Europe account or email address. Your feed reader decides when to fetch them. When site tracking is on, we keep daily totals of successful feed requests, including checks that find no changes. These totals contain no IP addresses, session identifiers, raw feed URLs or browser identifiers. Requests carrying Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals are excluded from these counters.
Some readers include a subscription count in their request. When site tracking is on, we retain the latest reported count for each reader and feed. A private code distinguishes feeds; we do not save their URLs or link these counts to a visitor. These records and daily request totals have no automatic expiry. Displayed subscription totals use only reports received within the last seven days. Reader names and counts are self-reported and may be incomplete or inaccurate. They are not counts of unique people or proof that anyone read a job. Analytics choices do not affect your access to jobs or feeds.
