How to choose allowances

  • A spouse or partner must form the recognised family unit at the duty station. Income and equivalent benefits can reduce the family allowance.
  • For staff without expatriation entitlement, the basic family allowance normally stops after five years. Expatriate family entitlement follows its own timing and geographical-zone rules.
  • In an expatriate spouse-income case that needs an individual assessment, enter the final family amount confirmed by HR. The calculator will flag cases it cannot resolve.
  • Child eligibility and shared-custody payments must be confirmed. The fixed child-expatriation allowance and education allowance cannot be claimed for the same child and period.

Other benefits and contracts

Education assistance depends on eligible costs, age and ceilings. Installation, removal, travel and other reimbursements are separate from recurring monthly pay.

  • Legacy A/B/C/L remuneration and preserved rights
  • Military, Local Wage Rate (LWR), consultants, interns and temporary personnel
  • Part-time pay and unpaid leave
  • Automatic medical/life insurance premiums or tax reimbursements
  • Education reimbursements, installation, removal, travel, rent, deployment and overtime payments
  • Disability and dependent-parent supplements requiring individual approval
